Each year on the second Saturday in September lacemakers appear in public to Make Lace and encourage others to have a go. It may be an individual or a group with or without a display of work. It might be in a shopping Centre, museum, library, stately home or other public venue.
Our group will be making lace at Churchdown Community Centre
from 10:30 – 12:30
Come along to see how it’s done and maybe have a go!
Making lace by hand is today a leisure activity for many and can be in any colour or just white. It can be fine and dainty or thick and chunky. It can be made with bobbins on a pillow, with a needle, knitted, crocheted, tatted, knotted or embroidered on net.
This event is supported by The Lace Guild, an Educational Charity which caters for lacemakers: beginners, designers, teachers, young and not so young. The Guild has a fine Collection of lace and equipment and a comprehensive Library at its headquarters.
